FRENCH LANGUAGE
SUMMER SCHOOL
This is a private Summer School for you and your family, based at
the guest house Prefaucon
farm where you are immersed in French life and culture.
Breakfast and the evening meal are eaten round the large farmhouse
dining table with your French hosts and other French guests; a powerful
language and cultural experience.
For you there are other (French) guests to talk with and perhaps to
hike with. And for your children, usually other children to play with.
Prefaucon Farm
is a working sheep farm with 100 ewes. Christophe and Laetitia welcome
guests and cook very good local food, fresh from the garden. Jean-Louis
is the farmer and part-time gardener.
French language summer school:
Your Children have 2 excellent options, depending
on their confidence and preferences:
Either to join in the local summer-school with its
programme of activities for local French children. This Summer programme
is based at the Children's Centre in MENS (see photo
below) and offers structured programmes for 4-6, 7-9, 10-14 and 14-17
year olds. Their staff are all qualified French "animateurs".
Each week has a different theme eg: water and swimming, circus performers,
trees & cabins, multi-sports.
And/Or to have their own French language teacher
and their own programme of activities and classes in a more intimate
and "secure" setting.
If your choice is that this should be all-day, then picnic lunches
can be followed by games, visits and joint activities with local French
children in the afternoons.
Activities could include visits to the local outdoor pool, horse-riding,
walks (with a donkey to carry your picnic and bags), and a visit to
the local adventure park - www.aventuretrieves.com
Parents can relax, or study French, or follow their
own program of walking, biking, horse-riding, wind-surfing, paragliding
etc. Or .... a wide variety of craft courses are available, perhaps
to complement your French lessons? Ask
us for details.
Dates: These private courses are normally available
June - September. But note that the Children's Centre programme runs
approx. 5 July - 13 August.

Where are we? These courses are available in MENS.
This is the market town for the Trièves; a wonderful region of rolling
farmland and forests surrounded by the mountains of the Vercors and
the Ecrins.
